Begin with the outcome
AI is a capability. The product still needs a reason to exist. Before adding intelligence to a workflow, we ask what it should improve and how someone will know that it helped.
Sometimes the useful contribution is finding relevant context. Sometimes it is drafting a first pass or reducing repetitive decisions. The role should be specific enough to explain without a demonstration.
Design the boundaries
An intelligent system needs a clear relationship with the rest of the application. Inputs, permissions, failure states, and human review all belong in the design.
People should be able to tell what the system has done, what remains uncertain, and what needs their judgment. An impressive output is not a substitute for an understandable experience.
Evaluate the useful thing
Evaluation should reflect the task people actually need to complete. A representative set of examples, a clear quality standard, and attention to failure cases make iteration more meaningful.
We see applied AI as part of software engineering: deliberate choices, observable behavior, and a continuing responsibility to improve what people rely on.
